Join us for our ACMlab session, titled Financial Planning & Budgeting which will be addressed by Joanne Hefny, Andrew Buhagiar from Office of the commissioner for revenue and Elaine Falzon, freelance cultural manger.
The ACMlab will provide a holistic view on everything which is finance related in the artistic sector.
Elaine worked with Arts Council Malta for six years, first as a Performing Arts Executive and then as the Head of Funding & Brokerage, where she was managing the Arts Council’s funding programmes. At that stage, Elaine was part of the strategy team creating and devising the strategy for the creative sectors in Malta and Gozo ‘Create 2020’, launched in 2015. In 2018, she joined the national theatre company Teatru Malta. She is now a freelancer, managing creative projects and actively involved in arts' communication and creative strategic planning.
Elaine has a Masters Degree in Cultural Management and also in Translation Studies.
Joanne Hefny manages the Taxation Unit at Business First which provides assistance to businesses. She was first employed with the Ministry for Finance in 1995 as a VAT Inspector progressing to Assistant Director Debt Management and Director Operations within the VAT Department. During Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, Joanne also formed part of the VAT team which presided over the discussions of the Working Party on Tax Questions.
Andrew Buhagiar is the Assistant Director (Taxpayer Service) within the Office of the Commissioner. Taxpayer Services provides assistance to citizens and business. He was engaged with the VAT Department in 2001 and was posted in the VAT System Administration Section. He, then served within the VAT, IT section and eventually in the Revenue IT section when the merger took place.
