Council: Arts Council Malta and MCST sign MOU on the Creative Industries, Science and Technology

The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and Arts Council Malta (ACM) have signed an agreement in the area of the Arts and Science. In particular, the agreement, will encompass attempts to increase participation in culture and the creative industries, increase collaborations between Public Cultural Organisations and encourage interdsiciplinarity between the arts and Science.

Council Cultural Participation Survey 2016: Increased cultural participation and a growing cultural market in Malta.

91% of Maltese adult population participated in a cultural activity according to new statistics on cultural participation in 2016 released by Arts Council Malta. The population survey carried out by the National Statistics Office in collaboration with the Valletta 2018 Foundation gives a statistical snapshot of several characteristics associated with the involvement of people in cultural activities.

Funding Open call for travel grants RCF/Valletta 2018

The Roberto Cimetta Fund and the Valletta 2018 Foundation, responsible for the implementation of Valletta’s title of European Capital of Culture 2018 have been collaborating since 2015 to improve and increase mobility of artists in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Festival-Fringe-Fever
In the coming days Malcolm Galea, Joseph Zammit and Steve Hili will be off to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. ‘The complete history of Europe (more or less)’ by Malcolm and Joseph and Steve’s ‘Burning love. To the ground (and Lasagne) are recipients of the Cultural Export Travel Grants. Last year the festival had 50,266 performances of 3,269 shows in 294 venues. In between packing and rehearsing we caught up with Malcolm and Steve to share some thoughts about the festival and their work before jetting off to the largest festival in the world.
